2009 Hunting Report: posted 01/10

I was out hunting in an area where we do some research back in October of last year. I was out there from the 22nd to the 25th. Every morning I would leave about 4:30 to 5:00am to head to my spot. The second morning I headed out and sat at my spot. I was there until about 7 or then I decided to move to higher ground so I headed toward my truck. It took me about 10 minutes or so to get to my truck from the grounds where I was at.

I got to my truck and started it. I walked over to the passenger side to open my back door. (I have a three door Silverado) to put my gun under the back seat. I walked over to the driver side and hopped in and closed the door. Inside my truck I have a 35watt GMRS radio (similar to the CB’s except more power and in the GMRS frequency like your handhelds) I turned that on and about 30 seconds later I heard this.
"Mark....... Mark!" (whispering)

Went silent for about ten seconds and I didn’t hear the other guy I take as Mark respond.
Then he said "Mark there’s a Bigfoot below me." (still whispering and still no response from Mark, I take it they were saddle walking around my area if they said one was below them)

After five minutes I didn’t hear anymore chat on the com. So I raced back to camp to tell pegfoot about what I just heard. I grabbed my rifle and we hopped in his truck and told him what channel they were on, he has a GMRS radio in his truck to.

We drove up to the area where I was at, then just a little ways as we passed where I parked we heard on the radio, "Man I can’t believe what I just saw." We still didn’t hear the other guy reply. After that it was still silent on the other end.

At seven in the morning hearing that I wouldn’t expect drunken college kids to be awake saying that. The only people up around 5am during this time of the year are the dedicated hunters. There wasn’t to many hunters in the unit I was in, But during archery season it was packed.

Mogollon Rim Night Vision Sighting: posted 01/10

names and location have been witheld or changed

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 14th

I took my son, daughter and nephew to camp at ********. We arrived about 1:30pm and the forest was empty. The only other campers in the area were camped on *****near ******. We set up camp and by 2:30 we were headed out to place remote microphones. The first microphone was placed west of the marsh pen at ******** along with my game camera. The second microphone was placed near the creek bed at *********. The third recorder was placed at *********, and a fourth recorder was placed about 1/3 mile south into **********.

We arrived to our position at 9:48 and I turned the Durango around so it was pointing north on the road. My daughter was not feeling well and didn't want to be left alone in the car so my son stayed with her. My nephew Bob and I took a digital recorder, night vision monocular with IR light, and a knocking stick. I started the recorder and leaned it against the tree in the middle of the clearing. I turned on the night vision and handed it to Bob, then walked over to the knocking tree.

At 9:55pm I did two knocks separated by two seconds. We waited three minutes, then did a single knock. One minute later, there was a “whoop” from at least a 1/4 mile to the west that was very faint. I waited about a minute, then did a “whoop” back. We waited about 12 minutes then I did another single knock. We waited about 5 minutes then I did another “whoop”. A return “whoop” was heard LOUDLY directly across the Canyon to the west. It was VERY close and surprised me. I stepped over to Bob and told him to keep a close watch. We kept the IR light on as there was no moon.

Within a minute I could hear a small rock slide in the creek, then all was quiet. Within 5 minutes I could hear a VERY soft and quiet footstep. The foot was laid down slow and deliberate. We were about 20 feet north of the knocking tree and six feet east and could see down the hillside a distance by starlight and very clearly with the night vision scope. I could hear the steps getting closer. A shadow kept  moving at the edge of the trees.

I told Bob to look at 11 o'clock, and he said he saw an arm and the brush moving. I asked him for the NV unit, and the next time I saw a shadow I brought up the night vision. This time I saw a leg and foot from the calf down as it stepped back into the brush. After this I could hear it walking but couldn't see it. I handed the unit back to Bob and had him keep watch while I listened intently. After a few minutes it stopped its quiet steps, It seemed to be a standoff, and where it positioned itself we couldn't see it. There were three instances of eye glow during this time, but very dim. I'm not sure it wasn't reflection of the IR light off the eyes?

I decided we needed to get it on the move again. I told Bob that we would walk back toward the vehicle slowly, and when I told him 'NOW' to turn back and look into the wide gap in the trees. We turned and walked 15 feet and I told him to stop. I could hear the visitor following. We walked slowly again, and when I thought I heard steps in the clearing I told Bob 'NOW'. We both turned around, and he brought the scope up to his eye. Bob simply said, 'Yep, there it is.' I said, 'Really?'

I took the scope from Bob, and had a look. It was stepping back to the trees when I saw it. I saw the left shoulder, arm, breast and leg. It was a female. As it stepped behind the tree, she put her left hand on the side of the tree and kept it there. It was 20-25 feet away. I could clearly see four fingers, the hair and fingernails. I watched for about 20 seconds when it peered around the trunk. I could see the left eye for a second. I handed the scope back to Bob, and he saw it peek out once more. Then it did nothing more and stayed behind the tree.

At one point it sounded like a light rock clack, but we couldn't see it anymore. At this point we heard a snap up the hill behind us, and I decided it was time to head to the vehicle. We got in and scanned the tree line again. Nothing moved. The entire stop from first knock to departure was around 57 minutes!!

I asked Bob to describe what he saw when we first turned around. He said it was standing the clearing, and he said it had a look of surprise on its face. In fact, he said it turned and looked behind it... as if it thought we were looking at something behind it, then turned and looked back at us. Bob said its head was more 'oval-shaped' with a high brow and appeared to have no neck. He did say there was some movement to the head when it looked back, but rotated its body to look downhill. It was at that time I asked to see the scope, and by the time I brought it up, it was headed behind that tree. During the entire encounter there was no smell, and did not feel threatened. A little paranoia did set in when no footsteps were heard.

Bob was a real trooper for being 12!

We got back to camp, restarted the fire, and then climbed into the tent by 11:30pm. Most of the night, elk called all around us. Some coyote were heard, but almost exclusively elk calls from all directions.

Interestingly, the recorder placed in ****** did not record the knocks or “whoops” I did, or the responses. The digital recorder we had at the site stopped recording after the third knock I did. Not sure why.

We went back the next morning and did find a fresh heel print from the creek bed heading uphill, but its angle did not lend itself to be cast. Of course, many photos were taken. In that same area at the base of the hill we found four bones in different locations. One appears to be a tailbone, another rib, and not sure about the other two.

I-10 Crossing Sighting: posted 01/10

Last night I was driving east along interstate 10 headed home from California to Texas. It was around 2-3 A.M. I wasn't really paying attention to time but it was between where interstate 8 connects to interstate 10 and Tucson.

I had just passed a state trooper that had stopped to help a motorist change a tire and about 4 miles up I noticed a dark figure "jog" across the highway and walk when he got to the yellow stripe on the inside lane. Once I got up to the creature, and my headlights lit up what I was looking at, I realized what I was looking at. It was a Sasquatch.

If I had to guess a height, I would say at least 8 feet. The top of his head was even with the speed limit sign and he had black fur covering him. He looked very ape-like but walked with a human gait, not hunched over like you see a gorilla walk. It was a truly remarkable to experience to see something like that first hand.

White Tanks Sighting: posted 8/08

In August of 2008 I received an email from a Mr. B. Mr. B related to me the following story. He stated that in 1993 or 1994 he was in high school and living in the west valley of Metro Phoenix. On this particular night his brother M, his best friend, and he decided to go on a drive in the desert with their open top Jeep. They made it to the White Tanks range and parked their Jeep on one of the dirt roads they had been traversing. The three of them talked for some time while sitting in the back of the Jeep. Mr. B stated that it was about 11:00 PM and that they had entered the park near the park entrance off of Olive Avenue and were very close to the canal.

After being there for some time Mr. B stated he began to hear movement in the brush to the right side of the Jeep. He first played it off as being a rabbit or other small mammal until the sound began to circle around behind the Jeep. The three heard as the movement continued behind them over the road and then into the brush on the left side of the Jeep. Mr. B said he was very confused as he had been a hunter all of his life and had never heard an animal circle him in the wilderness less in the desert. The three youths became unnerved and exited the Jeep with a flashlight in hand. As they listened for the circling creature they were able to pinpoint the general location of where the animal was travelling. Just as this thing began to edge closer to the dirt road in front of the Jeep the brother of Mr. B turned on the flashlight illuminating there stalker in the beam of light.

Mr. B described that in the beam of light he could see a tall upright animal that was standing behind a creosote bush. The animal was still moving when the light illuminated it and it began turned to look at the three as it emerged from behind the brush and crossed the road in two large extended strides and then disappeared behind more brush. Mr. B described the animal as being about seven to eight feet tall as he gauged this off of the height of the six foot creosote bush. This animal was walking on two legs as a man would but was twice the size of Mr. B as he is today. Today Mr. B is six foot four inches tall and weighs over two hundred seventy five pounds. He also described the shoulders as being massive and twice the size of the creature’s waist. Mr. B described the animal’s hair as being two toned, and similar in color to a German Shepherd’s coloring. He told me that the hair was dark tan or brown but in certain areas where the hair met folds in the skin that is was lighter tan or brown. He described how when you see a German Shepherd he is one color on his back but near his belly and under his legs the color is lighter and this is how the hair looked to him. He also told me that the hair was definitely not fur like a dog or bears fur but was thin and long about three to four inches in length.

The last thing he described was the animal had no neck. When I asked him to explain more about this he relayed that he was not saying it did not have a neck but that the neck was very short or very thick and not noticeable. Throughout his life Mr. B and his brother have talked about their experience with this desert Bigfoot and had always wondered what it was they really saw. Mr. B stated that he had been watching a television program that was based on Bigfoot and on that specific episode an artist rendition of a Bigfoot was displayed on the screen. Mr. B said that the drawing reminded him greatly of what he had seen that night in the desert near the White Tanks Park and made him remember the details of the incident.

Mr. B is a Navy veteran and is a General Contractor for a local construction company here in Maricopa County.

Kaibab Sighting: posted 12/07

This sighting is posted in the witnesses own words

One year I went up there with my buddy and in the middle of the night some crazy animal starts screaming, don't know how to describe it but I did hear a recording once that sounded pretty close to it.  Started it out high and then tapered off to kind of a low moan.  Just a horrible, blood curdling, nasty sound!  My buddy woke up and he says what the hell is that???  I'm like I dunno but I got my 9mm in my hand ready to go, LOL!  We started hearing it from multiple directions, it was freaky for sure.  Eventually after some time they did finally shut up and we got some sleep, but there were all kinds of weird noises that night that kept waking me up.

The next morning we went out and I didn't see anything that I could shoot and I came back to camp.  My buddy was there and he was really quiet.  He didn't really talk except to say that he needed to get home because of work or something.  So we drove a few miles and found some people he knew and he talked them into driving him home.  I thought that was weird but whatever I don't mind camping/hunting alone.

So the next afternoon I was hunting within a mile or so around camp, still hunting again and I heard something following me again.  I just kind of tried to ignore it and eventually made my way back to camp as it was getting pretty dark.  Some animal following me through the woods in the dark did not give me a "happy" feeling but my dad and uncles taught me not to fear the woods or anything for that matter.  They were the kind of guys that were always the toughest, strongest, most wood smart, meanest around and nothing could hurt them.  So anyway, I just rationalized that it was something explainable and went back to camp. That night I did hear some pretty strange animal sounds around camp but just forced myself to get some sleep.

The next afternoon again while hunting I thought I heard something behind me.  Now I was PO'd, whatever sick animal is stalking me, enough is enough this animal needs to die.  I made my way along this ridge to the point and dropped off the front.  Trying to make as little noise as I could but move quickly I circled back along the side of the ridge.  I started up the side of the ridge and I could hear it up top.  I had an arrow knocked as I came up to the top.  My head just got high enough to start seeing the top of the ridge and I heard the lowest, meanest growl I have ever heard.  I could actually feel it in my chest which obviously changed my attitude a little.  As I stood there frozen I saw the animal stand up.  I could not see its head, but I could see a very large, hairy animal standing on two legs.  I could see its legs, chest and arms.  At this point I literally had to squeeze my legs together as I thought that I was going to piss myself (not a feeling of fear that I've had before or since).  Its noises, movement and posture were very aggressive so much so that I thought that it would charge me at any moment.  At this point my brain is running in a million directions as there is no animal like this in the real world, sure maybe in a monster movie but not here in the really real world.  I don't even know what to do but I feel myself slowly backing away, almost like walking on thin ice thinking that you're going to fall through on the next step.

After a couple of steps I can't see it anymore and I turn and continue walking away.  I know that I can't go all "girlie" now and start running through the woods screaming as I could hurt myself and then I'm really in trouble.  As I 'm walking I can hear something crashing through the woods and I look around.  I see glimpses of this animal moving quickly through the woods from thicket to thicket, tree to tree.  I just kept walking back towards camp and eventually it must have gotten bored with me and left me alone.

When I got back to camp I felt like I had just run a million miles, just dog tired and as I get dinner together I notice that I am shaking, must be cold I thought.  I made a fire, ate and just sat there thinking that I must have had a brain misfire or something, there is no way that I saw what I saw.  I must not have been paying attention but out of nowhere small rocks start landing by me and the fire.  I'm thinking, huh the fire is hot enough to pop rocks out, strange.  I start noticing that I can hear something moving in the brush around camp.  I must have been kind of numb at this point as I just sat there listening to the animals moving around camp, just staying in the shadows.  I could see movement here and there occasionally.  Whatever animals these were I thought that they moved kind of like monkeys or apes and they started making strange noises (like I had been hearing the last couple of nights).

As I'm sitting there I guess I was thinking that I was hallucinating or something.  I got kind of tired of it after a while and walked over to the truck and blasted the horn.  This made everything settle back down for a while. Eventually I needed to get some sleep but there was no way I was sleeping in the tent with devil monkeys running around, LOL!  So I grabbed my pillow and bag and curled up in the back of the truck.  I had a dodge pickup with the two rear suicide doors and a flip up back seat. I flipped up the seat, got in and pulled the sleeping bag up over my head with the 9mm in one hand and the key less remote in the other.  Whenever I was awoken by noises I just hit the panic button which blares the horn and lights and all would go quiet for a while.

I think that those damn monkeys slapped my truck a couple of times that night....I dunno can't be for sure anymore.  The next morning I packed up and left, haven't been back and haven't hunted since.  Told my wife about it a few months ago but she just thought I was nuts...who knows, maybe I am nuts,

LOL!
